The Elfin Oak is a 900-year-old carved tree stump in Kensington Gardens, covered in 74 painted elves, gnomes and fairies. Free to visit any time the park is open.

It was a freezing Saturday morning but seeing Hyde Park inundated with mini carpets of snowdrops and daffodils warmed our souls with fresh hope: yes, spring is on its way (at last!). We just have to brave another stormy February.

The Arch by Henry Moore is a six-metre travertine sculpture on the north bank of the Long Water in Kensington Gardens. Free to visit any time the park is open.
